Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Erving Select Board moves toward hiring Michele Turner as the town's first appointed treasurer. Chair Jacob Smith and Member Jacquelyn Boyden interviewed Turner, the town's tax and water collector of 15 years and Northfield's treasurer-collector since 2021, then voted unanimously to have Boyden work with town counsel and Town Administrator Bryan Smith on salary-versus-contract terms before a formal offer. Absent Member William Bembury relayed that he "fully supports the appointment." The board also approved a $402,017.82 accounts payable warrant and a $142.77 water commitment, swore in two police officers, and heard that the $14.7 million Evergreen Circle senior-housing project, funded by the state September 3, could break ground in 2027.

Turner described adopting "positive pay" fraud protections after learning of a check-washing scheme at a peer town. The board closed by voting 2-0 to enter executive session on police union bargaining strategy and the town administrator's contract.
