Select Board Fills Fire Posts, OKs EMS Design Deal
Select Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Northfield Select Board fills fire department's acting leadership and inks an $84,000 EMS building design deal. Chair Barbara Jacque signed a Phase I design contract with HKT Architects after the board unanimously approved the roughly $84,000 fee, targeting a concept and "rough order of magnitude" cost estimate before the November 19 Fall Town Meeting. The board, with a dissent from Vice Chair Bernard Boudreau, appointed Robert Hunter acting deputy fire chief through January 2027, and separately approved Interim Chief Michael Quinn's $8,600 FY27 compensation package over Clerk Shane Duclos's abstention.
Members also approved $863,265.10 combined in payroll and vendor warrants and signed warrants for an October 6 vote authorizing up to $236,572,983 in Franklin County Technical School borrowing and a separate, contested regional school district question, with Duclos again dissenting. "We're trying not to spend that much money so that we have a concept and a rough order of magnitude," Jacque said of the EMS building process.
