Senior Housing Panel Sends RFP to Select Board
Other Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Deerfield senior housing panel forwards site RFP to Select Board, opens church archiving bid. The Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee, chaired by Leelee Dwight, learned a summary review committee recommended its housing site proposal to the Select Board, with member Blake Gilmore confirming no vote was expected that night. Dwight disclosed that roughly $70,000 in previously awarded Community Preservation Act funds reverted to the CPC after a mismatch between the committee's extension paperwork and the town meeting warrant article, though the CPC's housing account still holds about $80,000 against $1.3 million in undesignated funds.
Members moved toward a CPA application, due November 1, to document the historic St. James Church, built in 1848, with an initial cost estimate of $20,000. An unidentified public commenter said the housing RFP's "enhanced privacy buffer" requirement was never enforced, warning "the whole thing is unacceptable" if any RFP condition goes unmet.
Minutes from August 5 were approved 4-0; an August 26 session turned out to have been canceled for lack of quorum.
