The Whately Housing Committee narrowed development options for a town-owned State Road parcel from as many as 12 units down to a range of two to eight.
Other Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026
WHATELY — The Whately Housing Committee narrowed development options for a town-owned State Road parcel from as many as 12 units down to a range of two to eight. Consultant Chris told members the feasibility study, which has billed $10,500 to date, is "starting to draw to a close," with a draft final report expected within days. New preliminary flood maps expanded the site's regulatory floodplain since an earlier study, Chris said, and he warned that "there is no way to avoid a need for flood insurance" on the property.
Member Fred Orlowski asked that nearby town water and fire hydrant access be added to the report. The committee approved its September 14 minutes 4-0 and moved its next meeting from November 9 to November 16, also agreeing to join a November 11 Zoom session with the Community Preservation Committee and Housing Trust.
