Data Center Moratorium Nears Greenfield Council Vote
Other Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Greenfield council chairs queue a data center moratorium for a vote and set an audit review for the fall. Councilors Wondolowski, Garrett, Golub and Bullock confirmed the zoning moratorium on data centers has cleared a joint hearing and a Planning Board recommendation and is already on track for a full council vote, with one councilor noting "there's a clock and it could happen next month." The Ways and Means Committee will hear from the mayor and finance director on the fiscal year 2024 audit, which councilors said flagged a "material weakness" despite an improved financial position. Assessing official Jim Geisman is set for an October appearance ahead of the city's assessor in November, amid what one councilor called constituent frustration over "affordability and their tax rates going up." A proposed rental registry ordinance is ready for an October public hearing, and a $580,000 GSET budget increase heads to the full council.
