WHATELY — Conway Select Board backs dam boundary deal and hears $330,000 capital request. The board voted unanimously Monday to authorize signing an agreement with Great River Hydro clarifying the town line at the Deerfield Number 2 dam for property tax purposes, after company Vice President Brandon Kibbe explained that a Shelburne appraiser's unilateral redrawing of the boundary had left Great River Hydro paying taxes on 150 percent of the dam's assessed value. The board also reviewed two highway department capital requests totaling $330,000 — a $100,000 truck and a $230,000 Volvo loader — with only $25,000 currently held in the highway stabilization fund and free cash described as tight following December expenditures.

State representative candidate Karine Corrieau, a former staffer for Rep. Natalie Blais, appeared for an informal conversation on rural school aid, health care, and agricultural land policy; the board noted Conway had been recently removed from rural school aid eligibility due to an equalized-valuation spike. An Eversource pole hearing for 33 new poles on Shelter Falls Road and Wilder Hill was set for March 9 at 5:30 p.m.
