Wayland Planning Board Approves Carroll School Site Plan in 5-0 Vote

GREENFIELD -- April 15, 2026, Wayland Planning Board unanimously approves Carroll School site plan, flags MBTA compliance risk. The board voted 5-0 on April 15 to close the public hearing and approve a site plan decision for The Carroll School at 37-45 Waltham Road, with Chair Anette Lewis authorized to finalize and sign the decision alongside Town Planner Robert Hummel. Attorney W. Proia represented the school and attorney D. Hill represented neighboring property owners throughout the review of conditions covering construction management, tree preservation, parking, and deviation language. The board also voted 5-0 to allow the Select Board to withdraw a March 2 draft zoning bylaw amendment that would have permitted appeals of Planning Board site plan decisions. In a third unanimous vote, Lewis and Vice Chair Robin Borgestedt were formally designated as a subcommittee for ongoing disputes with the Economic Development Committee over proposed changes to the Route 20 West Multi-Family Housing Sub-district, changes the Planning Board warned could jeopardize Wayland's approved status under state MBTA Communities compliance modeling.
