Warwick School Committee unanimously approves grant-funded Family Liaison position through December

WARWICK — June 10, 2026 — Warwick School Committee creates new mental health and family support position funded by grant. The committee voted unanimously at its June 10 meeting to open a full-time Family Liaison and Bright Coordinator position, budgeted at $49,706.50 through December 31, 2026, with continuation contingent on additional grant funding. The role carries four responsibilities: overseeing students in mental health crisis, providing social-emotional follow-up support, family outreach and attendance work, and early childhood program administration. The position is modeled on the Bright mental health program, which operates in high schools statewide and which the principal observed at Swift River Elementary School's TLC program earlier this year. One committee member asked that any person hired be given right of first refusal for a reduced attendance-supervisor role if grant funds do not materialize. The committee also voted unanimously to open one additional school choice kindergarten seat, bringing total projected September enrollment to 76 across preschool, grades K-6, and school choice.
