Select Board · Meeting of April 14, 2026

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Select Board voted 3-1 with one abstention not to recommend a regional school assessment in the town meeting warrant. Select Board member Dan Campbell moved the non-recommendation, seconded by David McCarthy; Sarah Kerns voted no, preferring to let the elected School Committee make its own case, while Chair Barbara Jacque abstained, saying the assessment had become "a tipping point for the town" amid declining enrollment. The board separately promoted EMS staffer Shawn Garland to part-time paramedic at $32.36 an hour and approved a $119,823.70 payroll warrant and a $1,095,222.79 vendor warrant.

Sewer Commission Chair Karen Boudreau reported bids of $221,668 and $167,800 for a control-panel project backed by a $240,000 federal grant, plus a refiled $4 million federal infrastructure grant application.
