Greenfield Promotes First Female Permanent Police Lieutenant, Advances Budgets
Other Committee · Meeting of March 17, 2026
Greenfield swears in its first female permanent police lieutenant, advances FY27 budgets. The Public Safety Commission voted 5-0 to promote Emily Raoul-Kanash to lieutenant and 4-0-1 to make Corey Green permanent sergeant, then heard the Police Chief present a police budget he pegs near a 12 percent increase, or roughly $286,000, driven mainly by contractual raises. Cruiser maintenance already sits $26,665 over budget and could hit $40,000 over by year's end; the chief renewed his call for the city to fund "three cars a year." Commissioners also unanimously recommended a 9.53 percent dispatch budget increase, citing $121,000 in state grant offsets covering 11 dispatcher positions.
"Your budget's a very small piece of the pie," one commissioner told residents watching the review.
