Greenfield preservation panel approves $243,000 in project grants

Greenfield Community Preservation Committee allocates $243,330 across eight projects, rejects two others. The panel voted 7-1 to give the Franklin Community Co-op $60,000 for its Wilson's Building facade restoration and 7-1 to award Rural Development Inc. $50,000 toward its 176 Main St. affordable-housing project, with income restrictions attached. Members voted 6-0 with two abstentions to fund the Greenfield Housing Authority's rental assistance fund at $30,000 and unanimously backed $30,000 for city clerk document preservation, $20,000 for Miller's Meadow and $8,730 for Beacon Field.

A new $20,000 Conservation Commission fund passed 7-1. A $25,000 Bank Row window-restoration grant failed 2-4, and a $64,350 Deerfield Street housing request drew no majority. "Because I represent the Greenfield Housing Authority and the GHAI, I will not be deliberating on those two projects," committee member Jack said, one of several members who disclosed potential conflicts before voting.
