Greenfield panel refers homelessness ordinance changes to committee

Greenfield Community Relations Committee spends 90 minutes brainstorming 2026 priorities with no votes taken. Councilors Brown, Bolduc, Simpson-Alves and Minhas approved minutes from two prior meetings and heard updates on ordinance changes, covering park curfews, vehicle sleeping bans and front-yard accessory structures for free fridges, headed to the council's Ordinance and Administrative Committee. An April 11 cleanup, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., pairs a downtown event led by the mayor's office with a bike-path encampment cleanup backed by the Greenfield Business Association, Connecticut River Conservancy, Tapestry and the sheriff's office; USA Recycling is donating a dumpster.

Members floated an unfunded intern position for city council communications and a post-budget public forum to explain municipal finance. "It's unacceptable, so it will happen," one member said of securing regular trash pickup at the encampment.
