Greenfield Opiate Commission Tables Mini-Grant Applications, Elects Secretary

Greenfield's Opiate Use and Prevention Commission voted unanimously to table draft mini-grant applications for individuals and organizations until its June 15 meeting, as members redesigned the program into a three-tier structure. The commission, which holds $657,969.19 in opioid settlement funds and has spent $21,760 to date on burial assistance, agreed individual applicants would face a simplified, low-barrier form capped around $2,500 for gap needs such as P.O. boxes or driver's licenses, grassroots individual projects could seek up to $5,000, and smaller organizations could apply for up to $10,000. Staff member Anna Oatman, who was simultaneously elected commission secretary by unanimous vote, volunteered to draft quarterly and final report templates before next month.

The commission also discussed community outreach tabling at upcoming Greenfield events including Strange Creek, Pride, and the Franklin County Fair parade, with member Abby Godfrey of the Recover Project and member Pedro of Tapestry offering to circulate updated commission flyers at events their organizations already attend.
