ASHFIELD — Frontier Regional's School Committee sent a $13.8 million general fund budget to a March 3 public hearing. The plan is 3.94 percent above fiscal year 2026, after administrators cut $400,000 from a $14.2 million level service request that was up 6.95 percent, or $923,000. The reductions combine $100,000 in rural aid with about $300,000 in wage cuts, or six or seven positions.
Health insurance drove most of the $620,000 in non-wage growth, while Chapter 70 aid rose just $35,000. Member town assessments would rise from 2.44 percent in Deerfield to 8.58 percent in Sunderland. The committee also tabled a $1.1 million parking lot project, including a $110,000 town assessment, until March 5.
