SHUTESBURY — Buildings Committee sought engineer quotes on salt shed repairs ahead of a Sept. 29 funding deadline. Members told colleagues that a structural engineer had offered a rough range of $2,500 to $5,000 and that another engineer, Ryan Hellig of Greenfield, might also bid. Two members who inspected the highway department shed found most posts sound but reported a leaking roof, rotting purlins and a pushed-out west wall.

One member said the building "is going to need a lot of work." The committee approved minutes from four meetings by roll call and scheduled its next session for Oct. 7.
