Shutesbury Conservation Commission unanimously adopts long-awaited wetland bylaw regulations

Shutesbury Conservation Commission unanimously adopts its general wetland bylaw regulations after years of drafting and revision. The commission voted 3-0 on all five actions at its January 8 meeting, also issuing a certificate of compliance for the Department of Conservation and Recreation's Camelbrook Bridge Repair Project following a January 5 site inspection by DCR regional director Jeff. The commission affirmed that National Grid need not file a permit for pole replacement work near 248 Montague Road, and appointed member Bob as its representative to the new Stormwater Mitigation and Implementation Committee organized by Jennifer Wallace.

Bids for the Shutesbury Southbrook forest management project are due by noon February 12, the commission's next meeting date, and a Community Preservation Committee grant application for a separate parcel is due February 9. Chair Beth, crediting former member Miriam as the primary author of the wetland regulations, called their adoption "a big relief" after a multi-year, multi-membership drafting process.
