Shutesbury Conservation Commission Continues South Laurel Drive Hearing Over Road Ownership Question

SHUTESBURY — June 11, 2026 — Shutesbury Conservation Commission continues lakeside home hearing over unresolved road ownership questions. The commission voted 5-0 at its June 11 meeting to push the public hearing on a new home proposed at 36 South Laurel Drive to June 25, after engineer Rob Levesque of Levesque Associates delivered a revised site plan just hours before the meeting. Member Bob Douglas flagged that a portion of the work falls within the South Laurel Drive right-of-way, which may be held in a trust, saying the commission "cannot give an order of conditions for a piece of property that's not part of the application" without a proper owner signature — a gap the commission warned could expose the permit to appeal. The commission also received two bids for the Southbrook Lake Wyola Conservation Area Trail Repair Project: Salendino at $66,356 and Terramor at $62,330, both under the grant budget. In other action, the board ratified an emergency tree-removal certification at 678 Crock Corner Road, issued a small project permit for deck work at 8 Lake Drive, and voted 5-0 to appoint Douglas as its liaison to a newly formalized Lake Wyola Advisory Committee.
