Selectboard · Meeting of October 28, 2026

DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Selectboard approved the sale of $6,719,100 in bond anticipation notes for the Tilton Library project and transferred a liquor license at Yankee Candle Village. Chair Blake Gilmore, Vice Chair Tim Hilchey and Clerk Trevor McDaniel voted 3-0 on the note sale, priced at 4.75 percent interest with TD Financial Products LLC, plus a premium of $91,984.48. The board also approved a $41,000 contract increase for Kuhn Riddle Architects on the 1888 building, raising its total authorization to $733,150, and approved transferring the all-alcohol and pub brewery license at 25 Greenfield Road to HPBC Incorporated, operator of Amherst Brewing's Hanger Pub and Brew.

In a lengthy joint session, the Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee and board debated narrowing the committee's charge to the RDI project at 8385 North Main Street; McDaniel argued "there's no other organization in town that deals with housing," and members cited more than 420 Deerfield households headed by someone over 75. No formal vote was taken on the revised charge. The board also appointed Sarah Baldock and Hunter Hillock to town positions and tabled Detective Timothy Boland's resignation for a week.
