Greenfield panel rejects reserved parking, backs garage safety fixes

Greenfield's Parking and Traffic Commission rejected reserved garage parking for permit holders and ordered safety fixes for a blind pedestrian exit. The three-member panel, with Sebastian, Michael Mullen and Jean Wall present, unanimously required signage limiting EV charging spots to actively charging vehicles, backed by a $35 fine, and rejected a plan letting permit holders pay extra for an assigned spot. "I hate going in garages where all the good spots are taken by people that are paying a little bit more, so I'm against it," said Jean Wall.

The panel also voted to recommend the Department of Public Works add temporary sawhorse barriers and crosswalk paint at a garage exit where a brick wall blocks sightlines, calling it a spot where "you can't see through it." Members tabled a proposal for free snow-day parking pending usage data, and approved a three-month trial letting transit buses hold near Court Square.
