Deerfield Board Authorizes EMS Chief Negotiations, Accepts Four Staff Resignations
DEERFIELD — May 20, 2026 — Deerfield Select Board accepts EMS chief recommendation and processes four staff resignations in under 15 minutes. Meeting jointly as the Board of Health and Sewer Commissioners on May 20, board members Tim Hiltner and Trevor McDaniel — acting without Chair Blake, who was absent — voted unanimously to authorize the town administrator to negotiate a contract with Tim Drumgoole for South County EMS Chief, following a unanimous recommendation from the South County EMS Board of Oversight; any agreement must return to the full board for final approval. The board accepted the resignations of Town Planner Alex Galloway (effective June 12), staff member Alex Hirschenredder (effective May 29), police department matron Cassie Jerome (effective June 3), and Historical Commission member Annalee Wolfcool (effective May 18), then voted to retitle the planner position from Planning and Economic Development Coordinator to Town Planner to improve recruitment. In a separate announcement, DPW Chief Matthew Morse was credited with securing a rural roads grant of approximately $239,000 to purchase a new road grader without drawing on capital funds.
